The last year was difficult for everybody, but I didn’t expect it to have such an impact on my relationship.
My husband and I never used to fight, but recently we’ve been arguing about what to cook for dinner, where we want to place our new furniture, and who should take the dog for a walk.
Unused to spending every waking moment with each other, it started to negatively affect our relationship. I wished we could return to the fun, carefree couple we used to be, but I’d no idea how to get there.
A few of our friends were going through similar issues with their partners and my friend Zoe recommended we try Talkspace – an online therapy platform that’s helping people take control of their mental health once and for all. I’d never heard about them before, but Zoe kept telling me how much the licensed therapist she was paired with had helped her and her partner address their relationship challenges.
I have heard of a lot of people using virtual therapy sessions recently, but I was always hesitant. I’m introverted and I hate talking about myself. So I was concerned about who I’d be discussing our most private lives with. Would they be qualified enough? Question after question popped up, so I was even more hesitant to give it a try. My husband insisted that we should at least look it up and check out our options. He said that we can’t keep walking on eggshells around each other.
Before I knew it, he’d signed us up. After a brief quiz, I was surprised that Talkspace works with us to find the right therapist. Besides, we can always swap out our therapist if we don’t like them.
It was super reassuring that all Talkspace therapists are uniquely trained for the online space, carefully vetted, and possess on average 9 years of experience as professional mental health care providers. Plus, it was comforting to see that their therapists undergo additional training to ensure they are experts in providing remote support.
The Talkspace platform is HIPAA-compliant and respectful of client data. I also love that we have a therapy “room” that includes only the Talkspace therapist, my husband and me. I wouldn’t want anyone to hear what might be delicate discussions. Also, my husband and I don’t have to be in the same room to join a live video session.
We’ve had a few months of sessions now and are both so appreciative that Talkspace offers alternative times beyond the typical 9-5 working week. With ongoing 24/7 access to therapists, we reach out whenever we need.
As a subscriber, we have unlimited text, real-time video sessions, and audio-messaging. We message from a desktop or the Talkspace app. And the best thing ever . . . we’re guaranteed a response 5 days a week.
Talkspace has helped over 2 million people, and now I’m one of them – actually we’re two! Our therapist is brilliant and kind and suggests that change is a constant. Keeping that in mind has seriously improved our relationship.
It’s also affordable. Their plans range from $65 to $100 per week – significantly less than seeing a therapist in person.
I’m so thankful that my husband and I found a therapist who works for both of us. It’s nice to sit down on our couch and talk out our issues in a healthy way. With Talkspace, we’re just about back to that fun-loving couple again. We’re far more relaxed and actually listen to each other’s needs. We owe Talkspace so much.
No matter what your problems are – depression, anxiety, or relationship issues, Talkspace can always help!
